BDSM Room at home
The Home Dungeon – What it Should Have
A dungeon built in someone’s home is usually fashioned out of a spare bedroom, or often a basement room of some kind – some place out of the way, where it will not interfere with day to day activities in the household, yet also easily accessible, for relative convenience.
Most BDSM dungeons or BDSM Rooms have several common features which are important to the functionality of the room. These dungeons often feature shackles, which are imbedded in the studs of a wall, and are used to keep a submissive or sadomasochist captive.
There are usually also several other types of restrictive gear within a private BDSM dungeon – stocks, spanking benches or stools, cages, and what is probably the mainstay of a serviceable dungeon, the St. Andrew’s Cross.
The St. Andrew’s Cross is an X-shaped vertical cross that has restraining straps or cuffs for the wrists and ankles, and often also incorporates a restraining band at the waist. When used correctly, the submissive or sadomasochist is bound to the device in a standing spread eagle position.
Toys for Your BDSM Dungeon
Another important feature of a functional BDSM dungeon is the type of gear, or ‘toys’, involved. Most common toy collections include a variety of devices.
One common type of toy is the paddle, which can come in many different shapes and sizes, and is usually made from wood, metal, or plastic. Another common toy for a dungeon is at least one, and often several, whip, flail, or other flogging device. These toys are made from any number of materials, such as leather or rubber.
Many dungeon ‘toy boxes’ also feature a large amount of ropes or other tying material, as rope bondage is very popular as a sexual activity in this alternative lifestyle, as well as being considered an art form in its’ own right.
Handcuffs and other ‘free’ restraints also feature heavily, as do ball gags, riding crops, canes, knives, blindfolds, and many other items. These items can be bought specifically for BDSM use, although many of them can be converted into dungeon toys from household items, with just a little imagination.
